Welcome Letter – July 19, 2021

Greetings to all our Central Point Families,

Welcome back to a new school year together. Our first official day of school is August 11, 2021. We look forward to seeing you and your student as we begin our new educational journey.

COVID made this past school year very challenging, but we persevered. I am so happy to inform you that we will be relaxing our health protocols for individuals who have been vaccinated. We will be sending home further information pertaining to these protocols and procedures.

I want to thank you personally for entrusting us with the education of your child. We are honored you have chosen us to provide your child with the highest quality of curriculum and instruction. We will be an advocate for you and your child, both academically and socially-emotionally.

Our daily schedule remains unchanged. Student breakfast will be served from 7:30 am – 7:50 am. Breakfast and lunch are again free to all our students; however, you will have to complete the proper forms. The academic day begins at 8:00 am and students will proceed to their classroom with their teacher. Our school day ends promptly at 3:10 pm. We will be using a new dismissal system to better facilitate safer and faster egress.

In an effort to continue to promote a positive and effective learning environment, we will be ensuring all students are compliant with expectations and protocols outlined in our student/parent handbook. These will include:

Dress Code

Students must be properly attired to begin each school day. This includes:

Daily Dress Code:

    • Red, Black, or Grey polo shirt with or without the Central Point Logo
    •  Black, Blue, or Khaki dress slack, trousers, or knee-length skirts (No skinny jeans, athletic pants, or stretch pants are permitted. All trousers must be without holes or rips and be able to accommodate a belt).
    • NO additional jackets, hoodies, or sweatshirts are permitted – ONLY approved CPPA sweaters or hoodies will be allowed.
    • Dress shoes, sneakers, and other closed-toe shoes are permitted. Flip-flop and slides are not permitted!
    • A belt must be work if wearing trousers/pants and it most not have a distracting buckle.
    • Jewelry may be worn, but it should be minimal and not cause distractions.
    • Hair color must be natural. Red, pink, purple, green, blue, etc. are not permitted. Students will be asked to remove inappropriate hair color.

• Attendance

HB 410 will once again be effective and will directly impact all families. This legislation ensures all children are in-school on a regular basis. Failure to comply with this legislation will result in compliance meetings with school administration and truancy advocates.

• Behavior

We will be providing greater support for our students this year. In addition to continuing with our NYAP provider, we will be teaching positive behavioral supports and interventions to students in all grades. I am asking for greater parent support this year to help us reinforce the proper expectations when attending school.

Academics

We will be unveiling new curriculum in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies across all grades, K-8. We will be providing targeted interventions with supplemental resources to ensure all students are making adequate yearly progress.

To better assist you in knowing your student’s academic progress, teachers will be communicating frequently via phone, email, and scheduled conferences. It is our goal to keep all our families informed of their student’s progress.

We want to be your partners for success. To this end, you will receive monthly e-newsletters from me, personally informing you of special events, important dates, and general building updates. Please ensure your email address is always kept up-to-date.

I would like to formally announce two new members of our administrative team. Mrs. Alison Cox will now serve as the director of academics for the school, and, Mrs. Nikki Budd is our office manager. Administrator contact information is as follows:

As we transition back to a more normal school year, we will be holding monthly community events, which will allow all families time to meet as a school community to celebrate our students and their learning. Please make time to join us during these events throughout the year. You may find this activity calendar on our school website. We will also send a copy home with your student.

I look forward to a very rewarding school year as we all come together as a community to make each of our students a success.

With kind regards,

Christopher D. Geisler, Ph.D.
